An elementary through junior high school counselor is a strong link in a child’s education by encouraging a child’s healthy self-esteem, helping children through difficult times, and acknowledgement of their accomplishments. A counselor also encourages each child to reach his or her potential by promoting positive attitudes and choices and by educating students, faculty and parents about academic success and child development.

Santa Gertrudis School’s guidance curriculum purpose is to systematically assist students develop the skills they need to enhance their personal, social, educational, and career development. The following content areas will be covered throughout the year using Project Wisdom, Teen Leadership, Bullying Prevention, Character Education and other curriculum guides are designed to help students acquire age– appropriate knowledge and skills. These include;
